Some colleagues from the travelArt team visited the idyllic Matetic winery, located in the heart of the Rosario Valley, between the coastal valleys of Casablanca and San Antonio. It is only a short drive from the capital Santiago and offers an unforgettable wine experience.
The first vines of the biodynamic boutique winery were planted in 1999 and are located on the slopes of this protected valley, making them pioneers in Chile in the production of the cool-climate Syrah grape variety.
Matetic produces a wide range of wines, including the famous “Equilibrio”, which is known for its balance and sophistication. During a leisurely wine tasting, our travelArtists were able to experience first-hand the unique flavours that characterise these wines.
Additionally, they participated in the wine tour “Biodynamic” and got to learn about the fascinating history of the winery, the wine production process, the wine cellar, and the beautiful biodynamic garden.
The winery also offers an ideal accommodation option for guests looking for a combination of wine, history and luxury in the middle of the vineyards. Matetic’s elegant guest house, La Casona, is a typical colonial-style estancia with large and elegantly furnished guest rooms.
The excellent cuisine of the hotel’s own restaurant “Equilibrio” and outdoor activities such as horse riding, trekking and ecotourism complete the attractions of this truly special place.
