PATAGONIA: A PIONEER IN SUSTAINABILITY
-Among the top 10 destinations 2024 –

This area of southern Chile is experiencing a renaissance of conservation and accessibility thanks to new hiking trails, expanded parks and one of the continent’s most ambitious rewilding projects, which is reintroducing pumas, nandus and the endangered huemul to steppe areas.
Patagonia has been named the second most sustainable destination in the world by Lonely Planet, thanks to its growing national parks and commitment to environmental protection. Chile has also been recognized as one of the top travel destinations for 2024, highlighting the progress made in the region.

Examples of sustainability in the region include the Hotel Las Torres Patagonia, which is restoring hiking trails and practising holistic grazing, and the Patagonia Camp, a luxury camp in Torres del Paine, which has set itself the goal of being carbon neutral by 2026. The Remota Patagonia Lodge is working on a sustainable architecture and design concept.

The projects in Patagonia aim to involve the local population and create jobs while protecting the wilderness and making it more accessible to visitors.
