Frutillar recognised by UNESCO as the first creative city in Chile

On a par with Liverpool and Glasgow in the United Kingdom, Bologna in Italy, Hanover and Mannheim in Germany, and the Colombian cities of Bogotá and Medellín, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has recently named Frutillar a Creative City of Music. This makes Frutillar one of a select group of 30 cities in the world characterised by the contribution of cultural industries to the economic and social development of the community. From the 22nd of January to the 5th of February 2018, the city will celebrate its 50th production of “Semanas Musicales” (Musical Weeks), taking place annually since 1968.
For a long time, our clients have visited Frutillar as part of our Lake District excursions, for example, from Puerto Varas. We are pleased that this beautiful city with German traditions is now getting further attention.
