Before reaching the small settlement of Ba\u00f1os Morales, where you set off on your walk, the drive leads past the slopes of the Caj\u00f3n del Maipo, a deep valley cut by the Maipo River. The hike leads through a highland valley with the majestic Cerro Morado always in view. There are impressive panoramas of other summits, some over 5,000m\/16,405ft high. With a little luck, you will spot a condor circling in its natural habitat. At the end of the valley, the small San Francisco glacier sits below a moraine layer and feeds the river that flows down the valley.<br \/>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\n\n\t\t<div class=\"pane\">\n\t\t\nTrekking boots are recommended for this tour, as well as sunscreen.<br \/>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\n\n\t\t<div class=\"pane\">\n\t\t\nOctober to May.
