The Volcano Route

Day 1 – Temuco – Huilo Huilo

• Pick up your rental car in Temuco
• Visit to Temuco with its interesting markets
• Drive to Villarrica and go walking alongside the beautiful Lake with view to the Villarrica Volcano
• Drive to Huilo Huilo Natural Preserve
• Overnight in one of the fairy-tale-like Hotels of the park
• 180km/112mi / 50km/31mi gravel road

Day 2 – Huilo Huilo NaturePark

• Discover this beautiful park and hike to its mighty waterfall
• Overnight in the Huilo Huilo Park

Day 3 – Huilo Huilo Nature Park

• Take part in one of the many excursions offered by the hotels: horse riding, canopy, mountain biking, hiking or aquatic sports…
• Overnight in the Huilo Huilo Park

Day 4 – Huilo Huilo Nature Park – San Martín de los Andes

• Drive to Puerto Fuy and cross the lake by car-ferry
• Cross the border to Argentina and go on to San Martín de Los Andes
• Overnight in San Martín
• 60 km / 37mi gravel road

Day 5 – San Martín de Los Andes – Puyehue

• Take the wonderful “Route of the seven lakes“
• Visit to the beautifull village Villa La Angostura, situated between blue lakes and high mountains
• Cross the Border to Chile and go on to Puyehue; see the Puyehue and Antillanca volcanoes
• Relax in the “Termas de Puyehue“
• Overnight in Hotel Termas de Puyehue
• 180km/112mi total /40km/25mi gravel road

Day 6 – Puyehue – Puerto Varas

• Drive around Lake Llanquihue
• Visit to the village of Frutillar and its museum of German colonization
• Wonderfull volcanoes Osorno, Calbuco and Puntiagudo
• Walk through the nice town of Puerto Varas
• Overnight in Puerto Varas

Day 7 – Saltos de Petrohue und der Todos los Santos See

• Petrohue waterfalls and Lake Todos los Santos
• Ride on a boat on Lake Todos los Santos
• Return to Puerto Varas in the evening
• Overnight in Puerto Varas
• 140km / 8mi (Petrohue and return)

Day 8 – Puerto Varas – Puerto Montt

• Drive Puerto Montt
• Visit the town and the harbour of Angelmó
• Return your car at the airport in Puerto Montt
• 20km /12mi
