HOW THE “HISTORIC” LAND GRANT FROM DOUGLAS TOMPKINS WILL ALLOW CHILE TO CREATE A NETWORK OF NATIONAL PARKS THE SIZE OF SWITZERLAND

Thanks to a generous donation, Chile will now have a network of national parks the size of Switzerland. Kristine McDivitt, widow of US billionaire Douglas Tompkins – founder of the sportswear brand The North Face – donated 407,625 hectares of land to the Chilean government for the creation of protected areas. The President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, and McDivitt signed the record delivery of the huge tracts of land that will be part of the future Network of National Parks of Patagonia. The Chilean government will add 949,000 hectares of land to the concession. To discover the beautiful Patagonia, consult with your travelArtist for details how to plan the next trip.
