Tourists visiting the lively UNESCO World Heritage city of Valparaiso now have a new first port of call: the well-equipped tourist information centre, run by Sernatur, that has just opened in the Plaza Sotomayor, inside the headquarters of the “Consejo Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes” (National Council for Culture and the Arts). Located near the Muelle Prat, the harbour, and the many other attractions in the city centre, and only a few steps from one of the most famous funiculars, the information centre makes an ideal starting point for exploring the city – and it’s easy for first-time visitors to locate.
The centre is equipped with brochures, maps, and a computer terminal describing the top sights and landmarks. All informational material is available in Spanish, English, German, French and Portuguese. Its hours of operation are: Monday to Friday 09:00 – 18:00 hrs., Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays 09:00 – 17:00 hrs.
