This day trip goes to the Conguillio National Park, with its imposing and active Llaima volcano, which towers above the entire landscape. Visitors have the opportunity to explore huge lava fields before hiking to the Sierra Nevada mountain chain. From there, hikers have fantastic views towards the Llaima volcano and many surrounding lakes that dot the countryside among the deeply green temperate rainforest. The umbrella-shaped araucaria trees that give the region their name can also be seen here. These trees, which have survived almost unchanged since the time of the dinosaurs, are native to Chile, but are otherwise rare. In the late afternoon you will return to Pucón.
