Sustainable tourism in Chile

The association of Chilean tourism companies, FEDETUR, recently awarded Chile’s most sustainable tourism companies. We are happy to announce that two of our partners are amongst the winners: Restaurant Bristol from Hotel Plaza San Francisco in Santiago and Hotel Quilquico on Chiloé.

Restaurant Bristol works with small, local producers and is supporting fair trade and the local economy. The cooks create typical Chilean menus like “Charquicán”, “Vailcan” or “Pastel de Choclo” from high-quality ingredients and help to keep the culinary heritage alive. The steady development of personal, social engagement and measures to save the environment were also acknowledged.

Hotel Quilquico was one of the first hotels with the Chilean sustainability seal “Sello S”. This hotel is taking extensive care to not leave negative tracks in the environment. The hotel earned this award mostly through measures of energy efficiency, collaboration with local families and creation of sustainable qualified employment.
