LAN Airlines, member of the LATAM Airlines Group, introduced a nonstop service between Los Angeles and Santiago de Chile, which will operate three times a week between October 16, 2016 and March 25, 2017. This new route will depart from Los Angeles every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and from Santiago every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Flight times will be 2 hours and 20 minutes shorter compared to a layover flight. With this additional service the carrier expects to add another 27,000 passengers to the 150,000 annual passengers that already enter Chile by the Los Angeles-Santiago route via Lima. The new nonstop route is operated by LAN’s modern jetliner 787-8.
