The owners of the Yegua Loca Boutique Hotel in Punta Arenas are descendants of Croatian pioneers. They fulfilled a dream by opening their hotel in an affectionately restored ancestral house, built in 1929, at the foot of Cerro de la Cruz hill near the town centre. They transformed the house into a hotel with a very special concept reflecting the love and commitment of the owners for this special region at the end of the world. The hotel’s decoration combines a perfect mix of history, creativity and comfort.
There are eight differently themed rooms named after typical professions or places from daily life on a Magellanic estancia: the coachman, the blacksmith, the carpenter, the stable, and the shearing shed are just a few. Despite the old-fashioned traditions, guests will find every modern comfort they need to enjoy the beautiful view to Punta Arenas’ colourful houses, the Strait of Magellan, and Tierra del Fuego in well-equipped cosy rooms with central heating, private bathrooms and Wi-Fi.
In addition, the hotel comes with a panoramic common area on the third floor and a cafeteria in the style of a Patagonian estancia serving Croatian and regional snacks. There is also a little store selling typical products from the countryside, some local gourmet items, as well as a variety of Patagonian souvenirs.
