Note: Use of drones in Chile

Most travelers place a high importance on visually recording their travels and unforgettable impressions of the places they’ve visited. In addition to the classic camera and mobile phones, the use of drones is becoming increasingly popular to capture impressive images. We would like to point out that the use of drones in Chile is subject to very strict regulations. For example, drones must be registered and a duty paid upon entrance into Chile. The Chilean authorities also require insurance for the device. The areas in which drones can be used in Chile are very limited and strictly controlled. For the most part, travelers can only fly drones in uninhabited regions not declared as nature reserves (national parks). The use of drones near villages, airports and military zones is prohibited. In addition, the flight altitude must not exceed 120 meters. Violators will face severe fines.
