Several hotels have now received seals of (Q) for Quality and (S) for Sustainability, which are awarded by the Chilean Tourist Office, SERNATUR, to reinforce the concepts of service and stewardship. Today, for a hotel to qualify as a top international destination, it is no longer sufficient to be in a great location; it must also offer the highest-quality service while ensuring that environmental considerations are taken wholly into account. Among the hotels which meet this standard, and have been recognized with both Q and S certification, are the Hotel Plaza San Francisco and Atton Hotel El Bosque in Santiago, Hotel Cumbres Puerto Varas, Hotel Termas Puyehue in the Lake District, the Hotel Ancud on Chiloé, and the EcoCamp Patagonia. Many more of our partners previously met the Q standard of quality, and we are pleased at the number that are taking steps to meet the S standard as well. Sustainability is truly one of the keywords for growth, and the tourism industry in Chile, with help from SERNATUR, is well on its way.
