Chile celebrates “18”

During the entire week surrounding September 18th, Chileans celebrate their greatest national holiday. These celebrations can be seen all over Chile, and it’s impossible to miss seeing the national dance “Cueca” or to avoid trying their traditional foods like empanadas, grilled meats, wine, and cocktails.

Here are some hints about where to spend the national holidays in Santiago:

Parque Intercomunal Alberto Hurtado
”Chilean week” Sept 11-20, all day. Handicraft, rodeo and other horse-shows, folkloric dance, traditional games, local gastronomy, and more.
Entrance fee: adults CLP 5.000 and children CLP 2.000.
Metro Bilbao+Taxi

Parque O’Higgins
Sept 17-20, all day. This is the official party: on Sept 19th the military parade will take place here. Live music, local gastronomy, dance areas, and a circus.
Entrance fee: adults CLP 3000, no charge for children.
Metro Parque O’Higgins

Estadio Nacional
Sept 16-20, all day with folkloric music, entertainment program for children, local gastronomy, “Cueca” dance contests, traditional games, and more.
Entrance fee: adults CLP 2.000 and children CLP 1.000. Metro Grecia, Ñuble or Irrarazavla + Taxi or better: Taxi from the hotel

Parque Inés de Suarez  17.-20. September all day, with typical games, music and folklor for the whole family in the nice ambience of Providencia.
Entrance fee: adults CLP 4.000 and children CLP 2.000 . Metro Manuel Montt + Taxi, or better: Taxi from the hotel
